The call aimed at discussing the latest developments related to Israel's recent aggression against Iran.
Early Saturday, Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran, targeting specific military infrastructure in retaliation for Tehran's attack in October.
According to Iran’s military, the strikes hit military bases in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran, resulting in "limited damage."
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty emphasized during the call the importance of preventing escalation, taking measures to achieve calm, and avoiding dragging the region into a broader war that could have severe consequences on its people.
These discussions are the second between both countries' top diplomats in less than two weeks, following the Egyptian foreign minister's welcoming of Araghchi in Cairo on 17 October.
This marked the first visit by a high-ranking Iranian official to the Egyptian capital in over a decade.
The call also followed the first-ever meeting between President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian last week on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia.
During their meeting, El-Sisi stressed the need to rally international efforts to engage positively with all parties to restore calm in the region and address the humanitarian disaster faced by civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
Ceasefire deal
In Saturday's call, Abdelatty also outlined to Araghchi Egypt's efforts in coordination with Qatar and the US to achieve a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, ensure the full and unconditional delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza, and facilitate the release of captives and detainees.
Cairo, along with Washington and Doha, has been mediating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas to strike a ceasefire deal during the over-year-long Israeli war on Gaza.
High-level Egyptian security and military team met on Thursday with the chief of Mossad and a delegation from Shin Bet to resume negotiations, Al-Qahera News TV channel reported.
Additionally, a delegation from Hamas met in Cairo on Thursday with an Egyptian security team to discuss the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Abdelatty and Araqchi discussed efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's stance on empowering Lebanese state institutions and electing a consensus president without external dictates.
Egypt has consistently voiced a deep concern over the serious, rapid, and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
