According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon during the telephone call he received from Araghchi.
He also reviewed Egypt's ongoing communications with various influential regional and international parties to de-escalate the tensions.
Moreover, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to providing all forms of political and humanitarian support to Lebanon and its people.
The call also addressed the presidential vacancy crisis in Lebanon. The Egyptian foreign minister underlined the necessity of supporting all parties in Lebanon during this critical stage to elect a president through national consensus, without external interference.
Egypt's top diplomat further highlighted the importance of empowering Lebanese institutions, particularly the Lebanese army, and fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Additionally, he stressed the urgency of reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as a key step to halting escalation, pinpointing the dangerous regional consequences that could result from Israel's continuous aggression on the territory.
