The Business Agenda programme will combine commercial, cultural, and humanitarian activities to develop bilateral cooperation and review the recent achievements of the Russian capital, Moscow.
Sergey Shermin, minister and head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow City, told Al-Ahram Online that the visit comes within the framework of strengthening friendly relations with Moscow’s partners in the Middle East and North Africa, especially strengthening Russian-Egyptian, in the current geopolitical context and strengthening the potential for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
He added that the series of events during his visit to Cairo and Alexandria is important for demonstrating the potential of the Russian capital, Moscow, and creating new opportunities for partnership with Egypt. The programme also aims to develop a dialogue between the two countries, support commercial and humanitarian contacts, develop cultural exchange, and enhance cooperation in the education, political, social, and architectural sectors.
He pointed out that the business agenda in Cairo is scheduled to begin on 24 November with a conference on bilateral cooperation between cities within the BRICS group. The conference will bring together representatives of government authorities, the business sector, and experts in Egypt and Moscow.
The main focus will be social development, education, architecture, and culture. Representatives of the government and industrial sectors will attend a conference and roundtables on bilateral cooperation dedicated to sustainable development and the exchange of expertise in key areas. In addition, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Moscow and Cairo will be signed.
Russian culture infusion
Within the cultural programme, there will be a charity show of Santa Claus, a photo exhibition of Rosatom State Corporation's projects and Russia's nuclear cities, and a presentation of Moscow's Father Frost Estate for the residents of El-Dabaa.
Moreover, there will be an exhibition of rare postcards entitled “Moscow in Postcards,” which will present visual images of Moscow. The activities will also include meeting with Russian director Alexander Galpin and screening his film “Marusya Foreva,” where participants can enjoy modern Russian cinema.
In addition, a feature performance at the Cairo Opera House by the ballet troupe of the State Academic Classical Ballet Theatre, Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilyov, showcasing the reproduction of "Don Quixote" ballet.

Minister Cheryomin added that the business agenda would include travelling to Alexandria on 25 November to attend several events, including a cultural programme to learn about the city’s landmarks, a round table entitled “Culture: International Cooperation and New Opportunities,” and a meeting with director Alexander Galpin, followed by a screening of his film.
The evening will conclude with a concert by the ballet troupe at the Sayed Darwish Theatre.
