Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty stresses that rulings made by international courts must be respected, stating that no country should place itself above the law or be exempt from accountability.

"We emphasize the necessity of respecting all decisions issued by international bodies such as the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, and other judicial organizations, including the recent ruling," said Abdelatty, during a joint press conference with his Bolivian counterpart Celinda Sosa on Saturday evening in Cairo.

FM Abdelatty's remarks come two days after the International Criminal Court's (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of overseeing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza.

"True peace can only be achieved by restoring the legitimate rights of the peoples in the region, particularly the Palestinians, ending the aggression, and upholding international law," he said.

For her part, Sosa said: "We must stand in support of justice and champion the rights of the Palestinian people."

During their meeting before the presser, the Egyptian foreign minister commended Bolivia's recognition of the Palestinian state and strong support for its cause.

He expressed Egypt is looking forward to broader international recognition of Palestine, including among Latin American countries.

FM Sosa is visiting Cairo for the first time to mark the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Bolivia, established in November 1960.

Egypt is intensifying efforts with European and American partners to end the conflict in the Middle East and prevent further civilian casualties, especially among women and children in Palestine and Lebanon, he told Sosa.

"The only viable solution is an immediate ceasefire," he said, adding that the "illusions of power and arrogance will not bring peace to any country in the Middle East."
