In a phone call on Saturday evening, FM Abdelatty reviewed Egyptian efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza in coordination with regional and international partners to restore stability in the region.
Egypt's top diplomat urged a robust international humanitarian response to address the critical needs of Palestinians in Gaza who are facing near-famine conditions amid an Israeli blockade on the entry of aid to the strip.
FM Abdelatty also warned that the continued expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank undermines the establishment of a Palestinian state and the achievement of a two-state solution.
On Wednesday, France, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, voted for a resolution to end the Israeli war in Gaza. The US vetoed the effort.
