The three-day event acts as a high-level platform bringing together countries from the northern and southern Mediterranean to discuss shared challenges and various crises that threaten security while exploring potential cooperation opportunities, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the conference, Abdelatty will review Egypt's efforts to de-escalate Middle East tensions and participate in a session dedicated to discussing Cairo's stance on various regional and international issues.

Egypt’s top diplomat is also scheduled to meet with various ministers and officials on the conference's sidelines to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and address topics of mutual interest.

According to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Rome MED Dialogues is an international conference held annually in Rome since 2015. It brings together high-level political and institutional representatives, officials, experts, analysts, and members of society, the economy, and the media.

The conference focuses on key issues affecting the Mediterranean and aims to enhance intra-regional cooperation.

The event, which will take place from Monday to Wednesday, also aims to promote an open and informal high-level debate on the challenges facing the expanded Mediterranean. It will emphasize the strategic importance of this region for Italy’s foreign policy and define a "positive agenda" for revitalizing the area.

Meanwhile, Abdelatty is set to travel to the Italian city of Fiuggi to participate in a G7 foreign ministers meeting invited by the Italian presidency to discuss developments in the Middle East with several Arab ministers.

According to the summit's official website, the agenda for the Fiuggi meeting will focus on key issues at the forefront of international discussions, beginning with the situation in the Middle East.

Discussion topics will include the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the situation in Lebanon, and developments in the Red Sea.

The meeting will also tackle avenues to promote a credible regional political framework that ensures peace and security through the concept of "two peoples, two states."

The foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, will attend the meeting.

Italy currently holds the rotating presidency of the Group of Seven (G7), which consists of France, the US, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Rome.
