Egypt, Syria foreign ministers discuss escalating situation in Idlib and Aleppo
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the escalating situation in northern Syria, particularly in Idlib and Aleppo, with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh, in a phone call on Friday evening.

According to a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry, Sabbagh briefed Abdelatty on the latest developments.
Abdelatty expressed concern over these developments, reiterating Cairo's unwavering support for Syria's national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also stressed Syria's vital role in fostering regional stability and combating terrorism.
A monitor of Syria's war reported on Saturday that rebel forces, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and allied factions, regained control of most of Aleppo city.
Syrian authorities responded by closing Aleppo airport and key access roads, as clashes between government forces and HTS intensified, resulting in a reported 277 deaths, including 28 civilians.
