According to the Egyptian presidency, President El-Sisi invited King Harald V to visit Egypt for the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

For his part, the Norwegian king expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's key role in Africa and the Middle East.

King Harald V also praised Egypt's efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability to the region.

He also commended the growing momentum in the Egyptian-Norwegian relations in recent years.

Both sides discussed ways to align their positions on international platforms regarding mutual interests.

The Egyptian president's visit to Norway marks the second stop in his three-leg European tour, which includes Denmark and Ireland.

Earlier Monday, President El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to discuss boosting relations between the two countries.

El-Sisi highlighted to PM Støre Egypt's keenness to expand ongoing collaboration with Norway on green hydrogen production.

Additionally, both sides agreed to increase trade exchanges between both nations.

El-Sisi and Støre also agreed to maintain coordination on shared regional and global issues, particularly in supporting the Palestinian cause and restoring stability in the Middle East. 

During the meeting, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for political consultations and several bilateral cooperation agreements between Egypt and Norway.

Earlier on Sunday, PM Støre held a tea reception in honour of the Egyptian president at his residence in Oslo.

President El-Sisi will also meet with the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament.
