For his part, the Egyptian FM reiterated Cairo's stance on the recent events in Syria, stressing that the political process must be entirely Syrian-led and free from external interference.

He stressed that the process should prevent any attempts to exploit Syria’s current situation to undermine its interests, sovereignty, or territorial integrity.

Abdelatty further stressed that the political process must be inclusive and reflect Syria’s social diversity without marginalizing any national faction.

According to the Egyptian FM, the process should also adopt a holistic approach to restore Syria's stability, effectively allowing the country to resume its regional and international role.

Abdelatty and Fidan also agreed on the need to maintain ongoing coordination on regional issues.
