El-Sisi discusses Gaza, Syria & other regional developments with Erdogan on D-8 Summit sidelines

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed Thursday the latest developments concerning Gaza, Syria, and other regional developments in a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the D-8 Economic Cooperation Summit, convened in the New Administrative Capital.

According to the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders agreed on intensifying coordination and consultation to manage regional crises and promote peace and stability.

President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip.

President Erdogan commended Egypt’s efforts and concurred with President El-Sisi that establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential for achieving peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Syria.

President El-Sisi stressed the need to preserve Syria’s unity, independence, and territorial integrity while advancing an inclusive political process that fosters national reconciliation and ensures a successful transitional phase.

The meeting tackled developments in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Syria. Both leaders underscored the importance of protecting these nations' sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security to ensure peace and stability for their populations.

Additionally, the leaders condemned Israeli violations of Syrian territory, calling for an immediate cessation of these transgressions.

The two leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Turkey across all fields, aligning with the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples. Discussions focused on advancing economic, trade, and investment relations.
