The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in a statement Israel's continued disgraceful attacks on Gaza hospitals as an "ethnic cleansing" attempt in northern Gaza that rendered the area "uninhabitable."

The statement came one day after Israeli troops attacked Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia. They set various wards on fire and detained more than 350 individuals inside, including patients and the hospital director, Hussam Abu Safieh.

On Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last central health facility in northern Gaza, is now empty following the Israeli military raid.

In a statement, the WHO warned that the systematic dismantling of the healthcare system and an 80-day siege on northern Gaza put the lives of 75,000 Palestinians living in the area at risk.

The situation necessitates activating international accountability mechanisms and decisive actions by the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to end this approach, the Egyptian foreign ministry added in its Sunday statement.

Israel's actions constitute a severe and blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, posing a serious threat to regional and international peace and security, read the statement.

In addition, Egypt denounced the Israeli occupation's systematic targeting of the healthcare infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

Kamal Adwan Hospital represents the last major operational medical facility in northern Gaza, and its targeting constitutes a blatant aggression and a flagrant violation of all international norms and conventions, the ministerial statement noted.

Egypt also reiterated its rejection of all Israeli plans and attempts to displace the strip’s residents, calling for an end to the brutal war on Gaza as soon as possible, the statement pointed out.

Moreover, Cairo urged Israel to remove the obstacles hindering the flow of humanitarian aid, allowing adequate relief to reach hundreds of thousands of Gazans to help them survive.

The Kamal Adawan attack added to the series of violations committed by the Israeli army against Palestinians in Gaza, contravening all relevant international conventions, including Israel's obligations as an occupying power, added the statement.

Since early October 2024, the WHO has confirmed at least 50 attacks targeting healthcare facilities or areas near hospitals.

Additionally, Egypt’s Al-Azhar condemned on Saturday the Israeli army's attack on the hospital, describing it as a heinous act and a full-fledged war crime that targeted patients and medical staff.
