FM Abdelatty urged all Syrians to prioritise the national interest, promote stability in Syria, and safeguard its national institutions, resources, unity, and territorial integrity.
He expressed Egypt's hope that the political transition in Syria will be inclusive and led entirely by Syrians, free from external impositions or interference.
Such a process, he noted, would preserve Syria's unity and stability, ensure the well-being of its diverse population, and maintain its authentic Arab identity, the statement added.
He also stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive and inclusive political approach that involves all Syrian national forces, reflecting the country’s societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity.
He emphasised that Syria should become a source of stability in the region, allowing various national political forces to play a role in managing the transitional phase and rebuilding the country and its institutions.
This would help the country regain its rightful regional and international standing.
The two sides agreed to maintain communication in the coming period.
From his side, Shaibani stressed that Egypt and Syria share a common history and a promising future.
"I was pleased with the call from His Excellency the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, during which he emphasised the importance of the two countries’ roles in achieving stability and prosperity for the region,” he wrote on X.
Tuesday’s call marks the first official call between the two foreign ministers and the first official contact between the new interim Syrian government and Cairo since the fall of the Al-Assad regime.
Since that fall, Egypt has underscored the importance of supporting the Syrian state and preserving its unity and territorial integrity.
Immediately after Assad's departure from the country on 8 December, Egypt urged Syrian parties to prioritize the nation's supreme interest by unifying objectives and priorities.
Additionally, Egypt raised objections to the Israeli invasion of the demilitarised zone in the occupied Golan Heights, as well as the Israeli attacks on positions of the Syrian army.
