This came during a phone call during which both leaders reaffirmed their countries' support for Somalia's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
On 27 December, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) approved the creation of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The new peacekeeping force, set to deploy later in January, will replace the UN-backed African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
President El-Sisi highlighted to his Ugandan counterpart Egypt’s efforts to aid Sudan in overcoming its crisis and reaching a ceasefire.
The Egyptian president emphasised the importance of protecting the Sudanese people from the scourge of war and facilitating access to humanitarian aid.
According to the Egyptian presidency, both leaders discussed Uganda's hosting of the upcoming AU Extraordinary Summit on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programmes, which will be held from 9 to 11 January.
In this regard, President El-Sisi stressed the need to draft African policies supporting agricultural industries and empowering small farmers, women, and youth.
Both leaders also agreed to enhance coordination among the Nile Basin countries.
