In a phone call, both foreign ministers discussed the latest developments in Lebanon as the Lebanese Parliament prepares to convene to elect a new president.
The president position in Lebanon has been vacant since the resignation of President Michel Aoun in 2022.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty stressed Cairo's support for a Lebanese-led resolution to the presidential vacuum without external interference.
He also emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
Furthermore, the two top diplomats affirmed respect for the Syrian people's will and the preservation of Syria’s resources, unity, and territorial integrity.
Abdelatty and Habib also stressed that the political transition in Syria remains a purely Syrian process that should be performed without external interference.
