In a phone call, El-Sisi voiced confidence in Aoun’s ability to lead Lebanon through the critical challenges facing the country and the region, emphasising Egypt’s belief in his leadership to fulfil the aspirations of the Lebanese people, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
El-Sisi reiterated Cairo’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty and affirmed Egypt's readiness to assist Lebanon in overcoming its challenges and embarking on a new era of security and stability.
For his part, Aoun expressed gratitude for Egypt’s enduring support for Lebanon and its people, highlighting the historical and fraternal ties between the two nations. He also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening these longstanding relations.
Earlier Thursday, Joseph Aoun was sworn in as Lebanon’s president during a parliamentary session following his election.
