The ministry said the convoys, prepared in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Service, carry 1,200 tons of supplies.

It added that they include essential supplies like blankets, mattresses, tents, plastic tarps for rain protection, and sleeping mats.

Farouk also confirmed that the ministry's General Committee for Foreign Aid, in coordination with other relevant authorities, is preparing the 13th aid convoy.

Since the ceasefire began on 19 January, Egypt has dispatched hundreds of trucks loaded with food, water, and medicine to Gaza via the Rafah crossing to alleviate the dire conditions faced by 2.4 million Palestinians after months of Israeli blockade.

On Tuesday, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Palestinians by providing humanitarian aid and ensuring its delivery. This came during a meeting with Pope Francis on the sidelines of the International Summit on Children’s Rights in Rome.

Abdel-Ghaffar also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to offer psychological support to those injured in Gaza and help them recover from psychological and neurological traumas.

Moreover, he urged the global community to take action to ease the suffering of thousands of innocent children affected by the war.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis praised Egypt’s central role in addressing the Palestinian crisis under President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's leadership.
