In a meeting on Wednesday in Cairo, the Egyptian foreign minister also reaffirmed to PM Mustafa Egypt’s commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Abdelatty also reiterated that Cairo supports the Palestinian government reform plans, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

FM Abdelatty and PM Mustafa concurred on the urgency of advancing early recovery initiatives, expediting debris removal, and ensuring the swift delivery of humanitarian aid without displacing the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s role in securing a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the phased implementation of its provisions.

Furthermore, he reiterated the importance of a two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Palestinian PM Mustafa presented a comprehensive plan for early recovery and debris clearance in collaboration with international organizations, laying the groundwork for reconstruction and restoring stability.

The meeting between the Egyptian top diplomat and the Palestinian prime minister comes amid Palestinian, Arab, regional and international outcry against President Donald Trump's colonial-style plan to "take over the Gaza Strip, transferring its Palestinian population, and turning the strip into a new Riviera."

On Tuesday, Trump, flanked by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in a presser at the White House, disclosed a new plan several days after he proposed “relocating” and “cleaning out” over two million Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations.

Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, and Arab countries have rejected these proposals.

The meeting also comes amid a fragile three-phased ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza war, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the Biden Administration, which went into effect on 19 January.

Minister Abdelatty also received Fatah Central Committee Secretary General Jibril Rajoub to discuss the latest developments in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
