Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty affirmed to his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani in a phone call that Egypt is pressing ahead with efforts to implement the three-phase Gaza ceasefire agreement.

During the call, Abdelatty also reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to ensure the swift and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in response to the dire humanitarian crisis.

Moreover, he stressed the need to commence early recovery and reconstruction plans to secure the continued presence of Palestinians on their land, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The call comes amid renewed controversy over US President Donald Trump’s latest post on Truth Social, where he reiterated his proposal for the United States to assume control of Gaza and permanently displace its native population, “resettling” them in neighbouring Arab countries.

Trump stated that Israel would transfer control of Gaza to the US after the conflict ends, relocating Palestinians to "safer and more developed areas," while the US would oversee reconstruction efforts in the devastated territory.

The United Nations and legal experts warned Thursday that Trump's proposal to assume control over Gaza and depopulate the war-torn strip would constitute a clear violation of international law.

Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, and other Arab states have firmly rejected the plan.

Syria situation

Furthermore, the Egyptian and Bahraini foreign ministers discussed the situation in Syria.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people and upholding Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Egypt's top diplomat also affirmed that promoting an inclusive political process ensures regional stability.
