During a phone call, both sides emphasized that establishing a Palestinian state based on 4 June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital should be the central approach guiding the international community at the current stage.

The Egyptian president and the UN chief urged the international community to work collectively towards this goal, the Egyptian presidency added.

They firmly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from Gaza, underscoring the necessity of ensuring that its residents remain on their land.

El-Sisi and Guterres stressed the urgent need for reconstruction projects in the Gaza Strip to restore the population's life rhythm.

Discussions also highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to maintain the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the release of prisoners and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of its residents.

Moreover, El-Sisi and Guterres emphasized the crucial role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stressing the importance of international support to enable the agency to fulfil its mandate effectively.

The call also addressed developments in Lebanon, underscoring the need to solidify the ceasefire to restore stability.

Discussions extended to the situations in Syria, Sudan, Libya, and Somalia, with President El-Sisi reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to these nations' stability, unity, and territorial integrity.

In recent TV remarks, the UN chief rejected US proposals to forcibly transfer Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, warning that such plans would amount to ethnic cleansing.
