Abdelatty also briefed Lavrov on Egypt’s reconstruction plan for Gaza, underscoring that Palestinians must remain on their land, according to a statement from the Egyptian foreign ministry on Thursday.
He also reviewed preparations for the emergency Arab Summit scheduled for 4 March in Cairo and Egypt’s efforts to secure a stable and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in Syria, where Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability in the region.
On bilateral ties, Abdelatty praised the deep-rooted relations between Egypt and Russia, highlighting their expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly since the signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement in 2018.
He stressed the importance of high-level visits to strengthen economic and trade relations. He also commended the ongoing cooperation in the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the establishment of a Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), alongside ongoing collaboration in oil, gas, tourism, and aviation.
