In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Egypt affirmed its support to Syria and its national institutions to overcome security challenges.
Cairo also rejected any moves that could affect the security, safety, and stability of the Syrian people, the statement read.
Egypt reaffirmed the importance of combating all forms of violence and putting the Syrian national interest above all considerations, in addition to working to survive this delicate transitional phase in Syria.
It also underlined the significance of launching a comprehensive political process that includes all Syrians without exclusion and guarantees the rights of all segments in Syria, the statement concluded.
More than 70 people have been killed in fighting between security forces in Syria and fighters loyal to deposed President Bashar al-Assad in a coastal area of the country, including Latakia and Tartous, according to reports.
A curfew has been imposed in Latakia and Tartous, where the fighting has broken out.
