Egypt FM discusses regional developments with Iranian counterpart in Jeddah

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty exchanged views on regional developments with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Friday on the sidelines of the extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers meeting in Jeddah on Palestine.

FM Abdelatty emphasized to Araghchi the importance of de-escalation, reducing tensions, and exercising restraint in this critical regional phase.

The Egyptian foreign minister also reviewed the outcomes of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo on 4 March.

He highlighted the full Arab consensus on the reconstruction plan for Gaza, which Egypt prepared.

He outlined to his Iranian counterpart the various phases and components of the plan, stressing its significance in supporting the Palestinian people.

Abdelatty noted that the summit welcomed Egypt’s initiative to host an international reconstruction conference in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations to mobilize the necessary funding for implementing the Arab plan.
