According to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both top diplomats also discussed the progress of Egypt's planned international reconstruction conference, which aims to mobilize funding for the plan.
The conference, slated for next month, will be hosted in collaboration with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.
The Arab plan, agreed upon at the Extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo last week, details a three-stage process — an early recovery plan followed by two phases of extensive reconstruction at a cost of $53 billion.
The Egyptian-crafted plan stands as a counterproposal to US President Donald Trump’s colonial plan to take over the strip and forcibly displace Palestinians, which triggered a global outcry.
The European Union (EU) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) supported the plan.
Additionally, the phone call addressed the latest developments in Syria and the recent tensions witnessed in the Syrian coastal areas, in which dozens have been killed in fighting between security forces and fighters loyal to deposed President Bashar Al-Assad.
Minister Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s stance towards the Syrian state and its support of its sovereignty, unity, and national institutions.
He reiterated the importance of adopting a comprehensive Syrian-led political process that includes all segments and sects to restore stability.
