According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, during a meeting in Cairo, both sides addressed several regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Africa, particularly in the Sahel region.
Abdelatty and Saleh emphasised the importance of supporting Somalia in combating terrorism and ensuring its full sovereignty over its territory.
The ministers also discussed developments in Sudan, highlighting the need to provide comprehensive support to the Sudanese state and its national institutions while preserving its unity and territorial integrity.
Regarding the Red Sea, they reaffirmed their rejection of any non-littoral state’s involvement in its security and governance.
Additionally, they expressed their commitment to continued consultations and coordination to enhance bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and trade sectors.
Furthermore, they underscored their interest in continuing the trilateral coordination mechanism between Egypt, Eritrea, and Somalia.
