Cairo urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by compelling Israel to stop its repeated violations and end its occupation of Syrian territories while respecting the 1974 disengagement agreement, a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs read.
Late on Wednesday, Israel launched a series of strikes on military targets, including an airport, and ground incursions in Syria that left 13 people dead.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Israel had targeted five different areas within 30 minutes, causing near-total destruction of the Hama Air Base and injuring dozens of civilians and soldiers.
The Israeli army said it had targeted remaining military assets at Hama and Homs air bases and a military infrastructure in the Damascus area, where, according to Syrian media and officials, a scientific research facility was struck.
Israel also confirmed that it had targeted the T4 Air Base in Homs province, continuing its strikes on the facility throughout the past week.
Moreover, Egypt condemned Israel’s attack on a clinic operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of Palestinians.
Gaza's Ministry of Health reported that at least 60 were killed in the Israeli strikes on Wednesday, 19 of whom, many of them children, died in a strike on a UN clinic used as a shelter for displaced Palestinians.
Cairo described the attack as a "flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law," criticizing Israel’s deliberate targeting of UN facilities, staff, and medical installations.
Egypt stressed that this act highlights Israel's complete disregard for international law and persistent commission of crimes amid "shameful" international silence, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Furthermore, Cairo urged the international community to avoid double standards and take decisive action to stop Israel's misconduct.
