According to a foreign ministry statement, Abdelatty outlined to  Meinl-Reisinger Egypt’s three-phase approach to restoring a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and to end the Gaza war.

He urged the international community to pressure Israel to end its military campaign and lift its month-long deadly blockade on the strip, allowing for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

The top diplomats also discussed developments in Syria, Sudan, and Yemen.

The Egyptian foreign minister raised concerns to his Austrian counterpart about Israel’s repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty.

Earlier on Thursday, Egypt condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Syria, describing them as a violation of international law and urging the international community to hold Israel accountable.

During the call, FM Abdelatty reaffirmed to the Austrian foreign minister Egypt’s support for Syrian institutions and a comprehensive political process that includes all factions of Syrian society.

He congratulated Meinl-Reisinger on her appointment as Austria’s foreign minister and expressed a desire to strengthen trade, investment, and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The top diplomats also discussed water resources issues and migration policies, including legal pathways for Egyptian workers to Austria.
