Egypt intelligence chief meets Sudan sovereign council head in Port Sudan

Head of Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) Hassan Rashad met on Tuesday with Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan in the city of Port Sudan.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan and enhancing cooperation across various sectors, according to Al-Qahera News TV.

Both sides also discussed efforts to restore stability and stressed the importance of joint action to end the war and preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, the channel added.

Sudanese official news agency (SUNA) reported that Rashad delivered a verbal message from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to al-Burhan.

The message touched on ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and Sudan across all fields.

SUNA added that General al-Burhan expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s leading role in supporting the Sudanese people, highlighting the historical and fraternal ties between both nations.

He also extended his gratitude to Egypt—its government and people—under the leadership of El-Sisi.

Cairo is set to host the second ministerial meeting of the Khartoum Process on Wednesday, 9 April.
