Egypt condemned the recent attacks on the Zamzam camp for internally displaced persons in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement strongly denounced on Sunday the grave violations of international humanitarian law that led to the deaths of Sudanese civilians and several staff members of an international relief organization.

It also underscored the necessity of safeguarding humanitarian workers and ensuring they are not targeted.

Egypt extended its heartfelt condolences to the people of Sudan and the families of the victims.

Reaffirming its unwavering position, Cairo reiterated its full support for the brotherly nation of Sudan, its national institutions, and its stability—emphasizing the importance of respecting Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Sunday that it had taken control of a famine-stricken camp in the western Darfur region following two days of intense shelling and gunfire.

The RSF said it had deployed military units in Zamzam "after successfully liberating the camp entirely from the army's grip."

Zamzam—which is home to more than 500,000 displaced people, according to the United Nations—and nearby camps have borne the brunt of the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the RSF, now in its second year.
