Cairo has received a new Israeli proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, intended to lay the groundwork for negotiations toward a broader cessation of Israel's genocidal war, according to sources cited by Al-Qahera News.

Egypt, a central mediator in the ongoing genocide, has officially conveyed the proposal to Hamas leadership and is now awaiting a response, the sources said. The group’s reply is expected in the coming days.

No further details about the contents of the proposal have been disclosed.

On Sunday, Hamas confirmed that its delegation in Cairo was engaged in talks aimed at ending the Israeli war on Gaza.

The discussions also focus on opening border crossings to facilitate the entry of urgently needed humanitarian aid into the besieged territory, ending Israel's over month-long deadly blockade

On 18 March, Israel unilaterally ended a ceasefire agreement with Hamas — brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States — resuming its war on Gaza with renewed intensity, killing over 1,560 Palestinians and bringing the death toll since 7 October 2023 to at least 50,944, with more than 116,000 others injured, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
