According to Egypt’s foreign ministry, the message focused on strengthening bilateral ties, with Abdelatty reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to advancing joint projects across economic, political, and security sectors.

He also expressed Egypt’s aspiration to host the upcoming 18th session of the Joint Higher Committee in Cairo, to be co-chaired by the two countries’ prime ministers.

Abdelatty welcomed the outcomes of the sixth session of the Joint Trade and Industry Committee, held in Tunisia earlier this week, calling it a step forward in boosting investment and trade.

The talks also addressed broader regional issues, including the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s efforts to restore a ceasefire and secure humanitarian aid corridors, while also discussing the Arab-Islamic plan, prepared by Egypt, for early recovery and reconstruction in the strip. He urged continued international backing for the plan.

Meeting Tunisian FM

The situation in Libya was a key focus during Abdelatty’s separate meeting with Tunisian foreign minister Mohamed Ali Nafti.

Both sides reaffirmed their support for a Libyan-led political process free from foreign interference, and called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces, mercenaries, and armed groups as a prerequisite for restoring stability.

As neighbouring countries, both Egypt and Tunisia have been directly affected by the ongoing instability in Libya.

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination on the issue, particularly with regard to border security and migration.

They also reviewed developments in Sudan, Syria, and the Sahel region, and called for joint action to tackle terrorism and irregular migration.

Abdelatty also praised Tunisia’s support for Egypt’s water security concerns and highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two governments in multilateral forums.
