During the meeting, Hussein delivered an official invitation from the Iraqi President for El-Sisi to attend the 34th Ordinary Arab League Summit and the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, both scheduled to take place in Baghdad on 17 May 2025.
This marks Iraq’s return to the summit chairmanship for the first time since hosting the 23rd summit in 2012. Baghdad previously hosted the 9th summit in 1978.
According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming summit and conveyed gratitude to the Iraqi leadership.
The meeting touched on key regional issues, including developments in Palestine and Syria.
Both nations underscored the need to restore regional stability through Arab coordination.
They reiterated their categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land, emphasizing the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab world.
On the bilateral front, they discussed deepening economic, trade, and investment cooperation and stressed the importance of sustained coordination on issues of mutual concern.
