In a statement on Wednesday, Egypt’s foreign ministry said it was following recent developments “with grave concern” and urged both countries to de-escalate and resolve their differences through dialogue.
It also emphasized the need to “pursue peaceful solutions that reflect the aspirations of both peoples for calm and stability”.
The statement came hours after Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged heavy artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed region of Kashmir, marking the most intense confrontation between the two militaries in two decades.
Dozens of civilians were reportedly killed or injured on both sides of the border.
Tensions have surged since a deadly attack in late April killed 26 people in Indian-administered Kashmir, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based militant groups.
Islamabad denied involvement and accused India of using the incident to justify aggressive military action.
