El-Sisi met Boulos in Cairo on Sunday. Officials from both sides attended the meeting.

According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi underscored the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.

He commended Egypt, the US, and Qatar's joint mediation efforts and reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to maintaining close coordination in the coming phase.

The statement added that the president highlighted Egypt's commitment to a Libyan-Libyan solution. He stressed that Egypt has been and remains the most affected by Libya's instability. Therefore, it is most committed to supporting all proposed political settlement efforts.

Furthermore, continued the statement, El-Sisi emphasised the need for consensus on a unified government that enjoys credibility among Libyans and receives political backing from the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, and the Presidential Council. This government's mandate, continued El-Sisi, must include organising simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, the meeting also addressed the situations in Lebanon, Sudan, and Yemen. In discussing these issues, the participants agreed in principle on the need to preserve the stability, uphold the sovereignty, and protect the resources of the three countries.

According to the presidency, the discussions extended to developments in Africa, particularly the Horn of Africa and the Sahel region, and the efforts to bolster stability by strengthening the roles of governments and state institutions in serving the interests of their peoples.

On the other hand, the Egyptian presidency stated that Boulos, for his part, conveyed greetings from President Donald Trump to President El-Sisi. He also affirmed the United States' commitment to working with Egypt to restore regional calm in a way that serves the interests of all parties.
