Abdelatty departed for Morocco on Wednesday morning. At the start of his visit to Rabat, the foreign minister held talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's desire to strengthen relations by holding the High Joint Committee in Cairo and convening the "Coordination and Consultation Mechanism" meeting between the two foreign ministers.
He also stressed the need to boost economic and trade ties, citing the Investment and Foreign Trade Minister's visit to Rabat in February.
Furthermore, Abdelatty praised the successful Egypt-Morrocco Business Forum, held on 4 May in Cairo, and expressed Egypt's commitment to follow up on the forum's outcomes ahead of the Joint Trade Committee meeting set for October in Cairo.
He also outlined Egypt's efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza, resume the ceasefire, and secure full access for humanitarian aid.
Moreover, Abdelatty discussed the Arab plan to rebuild Gaza and Egypt's plans to host a reconstruction conference once a ceasefire is established. In this context, he commended King Mohammed VI's leadership of the Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Committee and its role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed recent developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, the Horn of Africa, the Sahel region and maritime security in the Red Sea. Abdelatty also raised the issue of Egypt's water security, praising Morocco's support of Egypt in that respect.
