Sisi, Pezeshkian urge restraint to avoid regional military escalation

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian agreed in a telephone call on Thursday to work on preventing a slide into a military conflict in the Middle East region.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart, Pezeshkian, who exchanged Eid al-Adha greetings with El-Sisi. The two leaders extended their best wishes for continued prosperity and blessings to the peoples of both nations and the wider Islamic world.

The Egyptian Presidency added that the two presidents underscored the importance of avoiding further escalation in the region.

They also stressed the need to prevent a slide into military conflict, warning of the potentially severe consequences such developments could have on regional security and stability.
