FM Abdelatty made his remarks during a meeting in Cairo with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Abdelatty stressed that such a settlement should protect the interests of all parties, reduce tensions, rebuild trust, and contribute to regional security and stability, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Araghchi arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a one-day visit to meet President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, FM Abdelatty, and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to finalize talks on a new framework for Iran-IAEA cooperation, Iranian news agency IRNA said.
On Monday, Grossi said he was hopeful of reaching an agreement with Iran in the coming days to resume full inspections of its nuclear sites, warning that “not much” time remained.
On Sunday, Araghchi said Iran was ready to accept limits on its nuclear programme and uranium enrichment in exchange for lifting international sanctions. He warned the E3 nations, France, Germany, and the UK, that failing to seize this “fleeting opportunity” could have serious consequences for the region and beyond.
The IAEA has been in talks with Tehran about restarting inspections of key nuclear facilities after Iran suspended cooperation following Israeli and US attacks in June.
Moreover, the two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen Egypt-Iran relations, praising recent momentum in diplomatic contacts and exchanges.
They affirmed their commitment to continuing consultations on issues of mutual concern and expanding cooperation in the economic, trade, and tourism sectors.
The talks also covered regional and international developments, particularly the situation in Gaza.
In this respect, both sides called for an immediate halt to the Israeli assaults in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
