The foreign ministry said Abdelatty discussed “rapidly evolving regional developments” with Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Turkey’s Hakan Fidan, and Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The ministers exchanged views on the fallout from the Israeli airstrike on Doha last week and stressed the need to coordinate political and diplomatic efforts to contain regional tensions, according to the statement.
Leaders from across the Arab and Islamic world will meet in Doha on 14–15 September for an extraordinary summit called by the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The summit was convened in response to the rare Israeli strike, which targeted the Hamas negotiating delegation in the Qatari capital and killed several people, including a Qatari security officer.
Qatar denounced the attack as a “violation of sovereignty.”
The Arab League, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and OIC issued similar condemnations, while the United Nations Security Council warned against further escalation.
