The Israeli airstrikes hit a residential area hosting Hamas ceasefire negotiators, killing at least six people, including the son of senior negotiator Khalil al-Hayya and a Qatari security officer.

“The Egyptian president affirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Qatar and its full readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to safeguard its sovereignty and preserve its territorial integrity,” a statement from the Egyptian presidency said.

El-Sisi also offered condolences to the Emir and the Qatari people for the victims of the attack.

According to the presidency statement, the meeting also addressed wider regional developments and efforts to restore stability.

The two leaders stressed the need to “formulate a shared vision for collective Arab action and form a unified front to protect Arab national security.”

They also called for continued efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, ensure unhindered humanitarian access, and reiterated their categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land.

The summit, which opened on Sunday at the ministerial level, brings together leaders from across the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Malaysia.
