In a forceful address to French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi condemned Israel’s strike on Qatari territory as a blatant breach of international law and called for a united European response to stop Israel’s war on Gaza and prevent the displacement of Palestinians.

El-Sisi's remarks came during his participation in a video conference held in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

The meeting, convened at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, was attended by the Emir of Qatar, the King of Jordan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, the French President, the British Prime Minister, and the Canadian Prime Minister.

According to the Egyptian presidency, the conference was dedicated to discussing regional developments, particularly the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Israeli aggression against Qatar, in addition to coordinating positions ahead of upcoming UN milestones.

During the discussions, President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's condemnation of the brutal Israeli attack on the security and sovereignty of Qatar. He described it as a flagrant violation of international law and an explicit confirmation that Israeli practices have crossed all red lines.

Israeli war on Gaza

Turning to the situation in Gaza, El-Sisi stressed the necessity of confronting all measures aimed at rendering the Strip uninhabitable to displace the Palestinian people and liquidate their cause.

He affirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of any proposals to displace Palestinians, stressing that such proposals lack any basis and would only endanger the fragile peace that has prevailed for nearly five decades, in a manner unimaginable for the countries of the region.

El-Sisi warned that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza would trigger unprecedented waves of mass displacement and illegal migration towards Europe.

He underlined that the starting point for preventing such displacement lies in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, which requires a firm and united European and international stance.

Two-state solution

The President further emphasised that the Palestinian cause remains the central issue for the Arab world, affirming that comprehensive peace in the region cannot be achieved without a just and sustainable settlement.

He noted the joint Saudi-French efforts in co-chairing the high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian cause, held in New York in July.

El-Sisi also expressed anticipation for the forthcoming two-state solution conference, scheduled for 22 September, describing it as a pivotal step toward the recognition of the Palestinian state.

He welcomed the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the New York Declaration on the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Egyptian President also thanked France, the UK, and Canada for their declared intention to recognise the Palestinian state. He underscored the importance of expanding recognition, noting that such a step would support the implementation of the two-state solution and contribute to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

According to the Egyptian presidency, the participants agreed to continue and intensify coordination in light of the critical circumstances facing the region.

The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened by Qatar, sought to forge a unified Arab and Islamic response to the Israeli attack on Doha on 9 September.

That attack, which constituted a violation of Qatari sovereignty, drew widespread regional and international condemnation and further underscored Israel's determination to press ahead with its genocidal war on Gaza.
