The showcase, running from 17 to 20 September, is organized annually by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). This year, it carries the theme “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence.”
The exhibition will officially be inaugurated on 19 September by Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.
Over 45,000 visitors, 2,400 booths, and exhibitors and buyers from 80 countries are expected to take part, underlining the sector’s growing importance.
Egypt's participation this year comes as part of its efforts to deepen trade and economic cooperation with Malaysia.
MIHAS 2025 serves as the trade component of the Global Halal Summit (GHaS), reaffirming Malaysia’s role as a global leader in advancing halal standards, innovation, and cross-border partnerships.
Exhibits will span a wide array of halal industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, Islamic finance, fashion, lifestyle products, personal care, cosmetics, and Muslim-friendly tourism.
Both local and international pavilions, alongside government agencies and private sector leaders, reflect the sector’s expanding global reach.
A highlight of MIHAS is the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), which facilitates targeted business connections and market exploration through Malaysia’s MADANI Digital Trade platform.
In parallel, the Knowledge Hub provides expert briefings, industry-specific panel discussions, and Power Talks, creating space for dialogue between policymakers, investors, and thought leaders.
The MIHAS Awards Ceremony, scheduled for 20 September, will honour enterprises demonstrating leadership, innovation, and sustainable practices within the halal economy.
Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Dato’ Mohd Tarid Sufian described the showcase as “the largest global platform for halal trade, bringing together exhibitors and buyers from 80 countries.”
He stressed that the event represents a key opportunity for Egyptian companies, exporters, and chambers of commerce to leverage Malaysia’s digital platforms and connect with global markets.
Economic ties between Malaysia and Egypt continue to strengthen, with bilateral trade reaching nearly $950 million (around EGP 46.2 billion) in 2024, an increase of 29.3 percent from 2023.
Egypt remains Malaysia’s third-largest export destination in Africa, serving as a strategic gateway to North Africa and the wider Arab region.
Enhanced air and maritime connectivity between the two nations is expected to boost not only trade but also cultural and tourism exchanges, particularly ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
MIHAS 2025 is projected to generate trade opportunities worth RM4.5 billion, aligning with Malaysia’s Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030), which envisions the halal economy contributing 8.1 percent to the country’s GDP by next year.
The ambassador also highlighted that both Malaysia and Egypt are working toward elevating their relationship to a Strategic Partnership.
Currently, more than 5,000 Malaysian students study in Egypt, primarily in Islamic studies, medicine, and dentistry, while Egyptians enjoy visa-free entry to Malaysia for up to three months.
“These close ties not only strengthen our educational and cultural exchanges but also pave the way for greater business connectivity. As we look ahead to Visit Malaysia Year 2026, we warmly welcome more Egyptians to experience Malaysia’s unique blend of modernity, tradition, and halal lifestyle,” Ambassador Sufian said.
During his last visit to Egypt, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim encouraged Malaysian students to broaden their academic pursuits beyond Islamic studies and enter fields such as medicine, engineering, and science to contribute to Malaysia’s national development.
