The royal couple arrived in Egypt on Tuesday for a four-day state visit. They are scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with President El-Sisi, followed by an official lunch.

They are accompanied by José Manuel Albares, Spain's minister for foreign affairs, European Union, and cooperation.

As part of the visit, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier to honour Egypt’s martyrs.

Moreover, the Spanish royals are scheduled to meet several senior officials, including Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, House of Representatives Speaker Hanafy El-Gabaly, and Senate President Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek.

During the visit, agreements are expected to be signed on sustainable development, extradition, and criminal judicial cooperation.

King Felipe VI will also inaugurate the Spain-Egypt Business Forum and meet with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul-Gheit, while Queen Letizia will visit Cairo’s City of the Dead.

Later, the royal couple will travel to Luxor, where they will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut and attend the unveiling of a monument lighting ceremony.

Their trip will conclude with a tour of tombs in the Valley of the Kings, a visit to the Luxor Museum, and a stop at Spanish-led archaeological projects, including Proyecto Djehuty, before departing Egypt.

This visit follows President El-Sisi’s trip to Spain in February, where he met with King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
