FM Abdelatty made his remarks during a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares in Cairo.
During the meeting, Abdelatty also commended Spain’s honourable and consistent position in support of the Palestinian cause.
He reiterated Egypt’s strong condemnation of Israel’s crimes in Gaza, especially the recent ground invasion, warning that such measures pose a direct threat to regional security.
Abdelatty called on the international community to act against policies of blockade, starvation, settlement expansion, and attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians.
He stressed that the only path to peace is a comprehensive settlement based on the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two ministers also reviewed the outcomes of the recent Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, where Egypt reaffirmed its rejection of Israeli violations of Arab states’ sovereignty.
Egypt-Spain relations
Abdelatty praised Spain’s supportive positions toward Egypt within the EU, noting that the two countries share similar stances on ending conflicts and promoting regional stability.
He welcomed Spanish investments in Egypt, particularly in the energy sector and green hydrogen projects, and called for stronger cooperation in tourism, education, migration, and counterterrorism.
The meeting took place during the four-day state visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain to Egypt.
