According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty met with GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi, praising the bloc’s role in advancing Arab cooperation.

He highlighted progress since the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultation and the adoption of the 2024–2028 Joint Action Plan in Riyadh in 2024.

The minister stressed the importance of continued consultations amid regional challenges, including the Palestinian issue, conflicts in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Sudan, and developments related to Iran’s nuclear programme.

The two sides also discussed ways to boost economic cooperation and reviewed preparations for the first Egypt-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum, which will bring together government officials and private sector representatives to strengthen integration.

Abdelatty reaffirmed that Gulf security is part of Egypt’s national security and condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar as a serious violation of international law and state sovereignty.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination between Egypt and the GCC Secretariat.

Both sides emphasized the importance of Arab solidarity and supporting the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.

In another statement, the Foreign Ministry said Abdelatty also met Ambassador Marie-Antoinette, executive director of the APRM.

During their meeting, Abdelatty praised the mechanism’s recent progress and recalled its longstanding cooperation with Egypt, including the comprehensive national review completed in 2020 and the follow-up on its recommendations.

Egypt’s foreign minister confirmed the country’s readiness to begin a new targeted review on administrative reform in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat.

He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to sharing expertise in training and capacity-building through institutions such as the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding.

Abdelatty invited the APRM to take part in the upcoming Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

The talks also addressed aligning the APRM’s work with the African Union’s institutional reform agenda ahead of the November 2025 extraordinary summit.

He stressed the need to improve financial governance and reduce reliance on external partners.

Abdelatty’s meetings in New York are part of Egypt’s participation in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, held under the theme “Together for a Better Future: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.”

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly is leading Egypt’s delegation on behalf of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, while Abdelatty is conducting a series of high-level diplomatic meetings throughout the week.
