During talks with Rubio, FM Abdelatty reviewed ways to strengthen the decades-old Egypt-US partnership, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Both ministers pledged to expand cooperation in political, economic, and security fields to serve the interests of their peoples and bolster regional stability, the statement added.

Abdelatty also conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s appreciation for President Donald Trump’s efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, recalling the constructive atmosphere of Tuesday’s Arab-Islamic summit with the United States.

He stressed the need for intensified joint action to end the bloodshed in Gaza and firmly rejected any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians.

The meeting also addressed the crisis in Sudan, following the International Quartet’s session on Wednesday.

In this respect, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a political settlement that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and state institutions while protecting its people and resources.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination under the Egypt-US strategic partnership.

In his meeting with Witkoff, Abdelatty focused on the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

He stressed that Egypt is counting on Trump’s leadership to end the war, ensure large-scale humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, and begin reconstruction in a way that guarantees Palestinians remain on their land, the statement read.

On Wednesday, President El-Sisi praised Trump’s efforts to end the Gaza war following the New York summit, which brought together Arab and Islamic leaders with the American president.

In a joint statement after the summit, the leaders expressed their rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians, called for an immediate ceasefire, urged the safe return of those already displaced, and pressed for expanding humanitarian access and the beginning of the reconstruction process in Gaza

The statement also set out a broader roadmap that included protecting Jerusalem’s holy sites and strengthening Palestinian governance through reforms within the Palestinian Authority.

Trump described his talks with Arab and Muslim leaders as “great,” while regional participants said the summit marked a rare moment of unified Arab-Islamic coordination with Washington.
