This came in their meeting in New York on Thursday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

FM Abdelatty stressed to the AJC that achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza is essential to de-escalation and to ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

Abdelatty reiterated the urgent need to stop ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, describing to the AJC their devastating humanitarian impact on the people of the enclave.

He issued a stark warning against Israeli plans of displacement, killing, and starvation, describing them as a direct threat to regional security.

The Egyptian top diplomat reiterated to the Jewish committee Egypt’s long-standing position that only the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, can bring about just and lasting peace, end cycles of violence, and secure regional stability.

The foreign minister praised the special nature of Egyptian-American relations, which have spanned over four decades, and highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

Abdelatty conveyed to the AJC President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s appreciation of US President Donald Trump’s efforts to end the war in Gaza, citing his recent assurances during the meeting with Arab and Islamic leaders on Tuesday.
