"The trip has been postponed," the official said, without elaborating.
Huckabee's discussions with Egyptian officials in Cairo are expected to focus on the Israeli war on Gaza, a US embassy spokesman told AFP.
He noted that the US diplomat's meetings are part of regular diplomatic consultations conducted between US embassies in the region.
"This familiarisation trip reflects the US's ongoing commitment to maintaining open and constructive dialogue with regional partners to advance shared goals in the region," the spokesman added.
Media reports, which described the visit as a rare trip, stated that it would be the first time in decades that a sitting US ambassador to Israel had visited Egypt.
Huckabee's planned trip follows only days after US President Donald Trump unveiled a new plan to end the Israeli war on Gaza in talks with Arab and Muslim leaders in New York.
American and Israeli media have revealed details of Trump's proposal, which includes a possible path toward Palestinian statehood and rules out forced displacement.
On Sunday, Trump told Axios that negotiations over his plan to end Israel's war on Gaza are "at their final stages," suggesting the deal could open the way for broader peace in the Middle East.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet the US president at the White House on Monday.
Since 7 October 2023, Israel's deadly, genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has killed 66,005 Palestinians, the majority women and children, and injured 168,162 others.
Egypt, alongside Qatar and the US, has been a key mediator in efforts to reach a ceasefire and end the Israeli brutal aggression on Gaza, now entering its second year.
