Speaking at a police academy graduation ceremony on Wednesday, El-Sisi said Trump had dispatched “very important envoys” to the Red Sea resort city on Tuesday with a “strong will and clear directive” to secure an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
“The information I’ve received is very encouraging,” El-Sisi said. “These envoys are carrying a strong message and a clear mandate from President Trump.”
The president also praised Trump’s “determination to achieve a breakthrough,” describing the US involvement as a key factor in advancing the talks.
Delegations from Egypt, the United States, Qatar are taking part in the Sharm El-Sheikh talks between Israel and Hamas, with the aim to end Israel's two-year genocidal war on Gaza and pave the way for reconstruction in the strip.
“I hope these negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh will conclude with an agreement to end the war, through the release of prisoners and detainees, the entry of humanitarian aid, Israel’s withdrawal from the Strip, and the start of reconstruction,” El-Sisi said.
He said the Gaza war had “dragged on for two years with devastating repercussions for the region,” and stressed that Egypt had worked continuously to halt the fighting and support the Palestinian cause.
“The whole world is watching and hopes this round will succeed,” he said. “Egypt will continue to play a positive and active role toward ending the war and rebuilding Gaza.”
He stressed the necessity of rebuilding Gaza to enable its people to live securely on their land, and reaffirmed the same principle for the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Turning to domestic affairs, El-Sisi voiced confidence in Egyptians’ resilience amid economic and political challenges.
“There were those who thought they could harm Egypt, but I have never believed that,” he said. “The Egyptian people are genuine, generous, and resilient. God willing, the future will be better.”
El-Sisi concluded by reiterating that Egypt’s internal and external affairs are stable, its economy continues to improve, and that “no threat can harm Egypt so long as its people remain united and steadfast.”
