El-Sisi made the remarks in a phone call he received from US President Trump on Thursday. The two leaders discussed recent developments following the landmark Gaza ceasefire deal, the Egyptian Presidency announced.
El-Sisi congratulated Trump on his "tireless and successful efforts" to end the war in Gaza, expressing deep appreciation for his commitment to achieving peace.
In return, President Trump voiced great satisfaction with the historic agreement. He also stated how much he cherished his strong friendship with President El-Sisi. In addition, the US president told El-Sisi that international attention had been focused on Egypt in recent days, following the Sharm El-Sheikh talks that led to the ceasefire.
El-Sisi, on the other hand, described the agreement as a "historic milestone," crediting Trump's sincere efforts. He affirmed that Trump rightfully "deserves the Nobel Peace Prize" for his role.
Moreover, the Egyptian president invited Trump to attend a celebration in Egypt marking the signing of the ceasefire agreement; an invitation that Trump welcomed since he holds Egypt in great esteem and highly appreciates its pivotal role in peace efforts.
Earlier Thursday, El-Sisi held a meeting at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo with President Trump's envoys, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Stephen Witkoff and Senior Adviser to the US President Jared Kushner.
General Intelligence Chief Major General Hassan Rashad and US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa attended the meeting.
Over the past 700 days of the conflict, Egypt has remained Gaza's primary lifeline, channelling more than 570,000 tons of humanitarian aid through the Egyptian Red Crescent, whose volunteer network of over 35,000 continues to coordinate relief convoys under the national Gaza assistance mechanism.
