According to the Egyptian presidency, President El-Sisi noted to King Philippe that his presence at the opening would hold special significance, given the Belgian royal family’s and the Belgian people’s deep interest in ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Egyptian president reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations in all fields, particularly by increasing tourism from Belgium and encouraging Belgian investments in Egypt.
For his part, King Philippe noted to President El-Sisi that his visit to Brussels affirms the strong historical ties between the two nations.
The Egyptian president participated on Wednesday in the first-ever Egypt-EU Summit in Brussels.
He commended the Egyptian president’s efforts to advance cooperation between the two countries to address challenges and realize the aspirations of their peoples.
President El-Sisi commending Belgium’s principled stance and King Philippe’s personal support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, reflected in Belgium's recognition of the State of Palestine.
Both sides stressed the need to resolve regional crises peacefully, safeguard the sovereignty and unity of states, and protect the resources of their peoples.
King Philippe praised Egypt’s mediation efforts, led by President El-Sisi in coordination with partners, to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza war toward regional stability and peace.
The Belgian royal also affirmed that the Belgian people value Egypt’s key role in promoting stability in the Middle East and the southern Mediterranean.
