Egypt, Arab and Islamic countries have strongly condemned in a joint statement on Thursday the Israeli Knesset’s approval of two draft laws seeking to impose “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank, describing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

In a joint statement, Egypt, along with Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Oman, The Gambia, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Nigeria, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, have jointly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval on Wednesday of two draft laws seeking to impose “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank.

The countries reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.

They cited UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion affirming the illegality of Israeli settlement construction and annexation measures.

The countries also welcomed the ICJ’s opinion issued on October 22, 2025, which reaffirmed Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law to ensure essential supplies reach civilians in Gaza and the West Bank, and declared Israel’s territorial claim over East Jerusalem “null and void.”

They urged the international community to compel Israel to halt its unilateral measures and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital — the only path, they stressed, toward a just and lasting peace.
